Bought a nice Syracuse Arms grade 3 today. It was poorly restocked. I'd like to acquire a semi inletted stock for it in the proper grade of walnut. If anyone knows of a duplicator with a Syracuse pattern, I'd appreciate the referral.
The forend is very smoky, but the ebony tip is missing. I'll have to carve another, so if anyone has a picture of an early Syracuse double forend with ebony tip, I'd be grateful for the picture. Seriall number is 680X which I think is an early gun. Nice pattern to the barrels. Similar to Stars and Stripes. Doesn't have the selective ejectors.
28" ripple free barrels, no pitting, no dings or bulges.
RedHead pad, which I'll remove.
The forend is very sleek. Looks beautiful along the barrels.

Grouse opener tomorrow. Time to play with the toys.

Out there doing it best I can.

CZ, I'll try to get out my "Hollenbeck" and get you a picture. As I recall it's not schnabeled but faired into wood around the cutout. May have a slight "keel" or V shape; can't remember.

CZ,
If this looks like the shape of your forend I'll take some close-ups for you.

Does that forend have an ebony tip? I could not tell.
I really need a shop with a pattern, as I don't have time right now to cloke from whole cloth.

My $60.00 darlin doesn't need a $300.00 blank. The barrels are going to be smokin'! They are very nice. Very nice indeed.

CZ,

Yes it does. Obviously, I haven't figured out the photoposting thing. E-mail me an I'll take some pictures and e-mail them to you.

BTW - have you disassembled it yet? Quite and interesting mechanical design inside.

I also have an early (40xx SN) Syracuse. Looks just like Philberts. The forend has a slight schnabel, the tip is ebony, and it's a widow's peak style.

CZ, I have a butt stock like Philbert's ser#4628. I will sell it for $125, that will save you time and money. It has original butt plate also.
