Need some info,

I saw a Verona SX405S 12 gauge semi auto at the local Dicks sporting good store. Synthetic stocked and has choke tubes.

I know it is made in Turkey by Sarsilmaz.

I don't know anything else about this gun.

It was on sale for $229.00

I'm thinking about getting it to use for the time or two a year that I may hunt waterfowl.

Can anyone give me the low down on this gun?

The sale price is ridiculously low, so I suppose that Dicks is liquidating them?

Any additional info or opinions is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bryan

I bought the Verona sx-405s for my son at Dicks this fall. We have used at the range and have put at least 500 shells thru it with no malfunctions. The trigger pull is a little longer than I like, however the fit and finish is excellent for a shotgun under $300. My only hesitation in recommending this shotgun is the fact that BC Outdoors who distributes this gun is know part of the Eldorado Cartridge Corporation (PMC Ammo) and I have tried to contact them for additional info, parts, etc. and they have never returned my e-mails. You might want to look at the H&R Excell Auto. These too are made in Turkey by the same manufacturer, Sarsilmaz, and as far as I can tell are identical to the Verona.

The H&R Excell 5 and the Verona SX405 are the same gun (confirmed by Marlin). I had to replace the magazine follower in mine due to sticking (and causing the action to jam.) Also, the action release button is kinda finicky on mine (you have to push the button on the side to load the magazine, just like the old A5's.) Other than that, its worked well so far. It's my bad weather waterfowler.
