Dove Season Approach-eth!

Ladies and Gentlemen-

Everyone come out to the 2010 Shotgunworld Sporting Clays Tournament at the Elm Fork Shooting Club in Dallas, Texas!

We have several different reasons to come out to this year’s shoot!

A: A great time to be had by all! Meet fellow forum members face to face and maybe finally decide if an O/U is better than an Auto for Sporting Clays!

B: Win great prizes, both for placing in the tournament and for door prizes! The generous sponsors of SGW have donated spectacular prizes! You’ll have to stay tuned to this thread to get hints about some of the really good ones, but you can bet there will be plenty good gear! (No cash prizes.)

C: Eat lots of great food! We’re going to be doing a pot luck lunch so you never know what might show up!

D: You get to shoot Sporting Clays!!! As if you needed a reason…

E: Help out a forum member in his time of family crisis! This year is special in that we’re going to be shooting to benefit the wife of a prominent forum member. You may all know from this thread here…

http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=75&t=224174

that Paul F.’s wife Kathy has been having some pretty severe bouts with cancer for most of her life. When this latest news hit the forum there was much outcry from forum members offering moral support and prayers for the well being of both Mrs. and Mr. Paul F. Between hearing of their struggle and seeing that everyone wanted to support Paul F. in his time of crisis, the SGW team has taken it upon ourselves to put together this shoot as a benefit shoot for Mrs. Kathy F.

2010 Shotgunworld Sporting Clays Tournament Information

Where: Elm Fork Shooting Club in Dallas, Texas
http://www.elmfork.org/index.html

When: Saturday August 28th, 2010
(That’s the weekend before dove season opens in case you hadn’t noticed!)

Cost: $68 + tax per shooter for a round of 100 clays AND cart rental to shoot, $25 entry fee for the tournament. It is this $25 fee that will go towards the fund we're planning on sending to Paul F. So for just under $100 ($98.61 at 8.25% tax) you get a chance to shoot sporting clays at the fantastic Elm Fork facility (again, like that's not enough already!), a chance to win fabulous prizes AND a chance to help out a fellow forum member!

Food: This is a pot luck lunch. Please discuss on this thread what you want to bring! You don’t have to bring enough filet mignon for everyone (just enough for phideaux2003) but please bring something!

Of course all NRA rules of safe shooting as well as all Elm Fork rules and regulations will be followed at the shoot. Eye and ear protection needs to be worn by all and that also means NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, even AFTER you shoot.

If you cannot make the shoot but wish to donate to the cause anyway whether in the form of funds or products for the door prizes, please PM Nick Schifani (username phideaux_2003) for details on how to help out our good friend Paul F.

Ok Folks,

People have been asking, "how can I donate if I can't make the tournament?"

Here's how... Send me a check made out to "Paul and Kathy F".

In the interest in keeping identities protected and what knot, I'll fill in the rest of Paul and Kathy's last name, then I'll deposit the checks into an account that I've opened with JP Morgan Chase bank.

The account is a trustee account. It's set up so that I can make deposits and nothing else. Paul and Kathy are both trustee's on the account and will be the only one's who benefit from the monies in this account. I'll be sending the account info to Paul shortly and when it's all said and done, Paul and Kathy can do with the money as they will.

For my mailing address, please PM me or email me at nick.schifani@yahoo.com

Thanks ya'll!

Is this generating any interest? I'll have an idea of what kind of prizes there will be soon.

Ok First of all, I want to get this posted...

We've decided that for every $25 donation that is made, whether you attend the shoot or not, you will have one ticket entered into the door prize ticket bucket. So, if you wish to donate $100, you will get 4 tickets in the bucket. As you will soon see, we have some great prizes in store so that may turn out to be well worth it. I've received several checks already and I've kept all the names and addresses of every one that has donated so you WILL be properly represented at the door prize drawing.

Now... for the good stuff...

Now we usually have all kinds of shooting gear... You know, shell bags, toe rests, shooting glasses... things like that. I'm personally hoping to see some of that Rudy Project Eye Wear that we've got on SGW... I'm sure we'll have some SGW gear as well. But there are some pretty exciting things we've dug up so far.

Gift Certificates from the likes of Bass Pro Shops and Gander Mountain.

George Trulock is donating several gift certificates for his fine products at Trulock Chokes.

and

There is a 1/2 day of shooting instruction being donated by this fine young gentleman...
http://www.clayshootinginstruction.com/About_Your_Instructor.html

Of course the REAL grand prize will be spending the day in my presence... wink (It's getting deep, put on your boots...)

There may be some fun happenings with the folks from Maze Clays too, but we're going to have to see how much interest we get in the shoot before the range will allow us to do what the Maze Clays folks want to do...

So ya'll let us know if you're planning on coming out! If we can promise 100 people we'll have our own clays course for the day and some really cool other stuff might be able to gain traction.

This is going to be a heck of a shoot!

Remember it's a pot luck lunch too so ya'll who ARE coming may want to organize a menu on this thread so that we don't have 100 people showing up having all brought ketchup and mustard but we don't have any hot dogs!!!
