I'm with you Dustin.
I have a fair number of guns to choose from, but by far my favorite, and the one that gets shot the most, is my Lancaster Model A. Damascus of course...

I knew there was something cool about you Craig...couldn't quite put a finger on it until now Earlier this spring, I attended a SxS shoot in the midwest and a gentleman from KC had a fantastic Model A and I just couldnt leave it alone. It was love at first sight and I just had to have one. Well, I have it....and sharptail season is almost here!! Dustin

OK guys so you recommend a "buy" of this gun I've found even though it has a preceding zero?

I can't comment specifically about the shotgun you are considering, but I had a similar experience with a Charles Lancaster double rifle. My rifle, a "B" grade, had a "0" prefix serial number and was clearly made on a Webley action (a model PHV-1). It was chambered in .280NE Flanged. Nevertheless, it was made to very high standards and had many features that differentiated it from a garden variety Webley PHV-1. For instance, it had barrels made and signed by Charles Lancaster, its action was sculptured, and the stock was a POW configuration quite unlike a Webley. Also, its engraving was different from the Webley patterns. The Webley actions are a great platform for another maker to build on. Here's a look at the rifle I'm talking about: http://www.rbsiii.com/collection/rifles/C_Lancaster_280/C_Lancaster_280.htmIn my opinion that rifle is of very high quality with exquisite fit and finish. I would gladly own it again. Just my $0.02 worth, but it cost you nothing! Curl

Curl, many thanks, in fact I've looked again and it's really nice and you are right it could be the same action. Anyway still considering options as a nice Stephen Grant has now been put in front of me...
Cheers T

Hey T, you have too many old guns. Get rid of 'em all and git yourself a modern street sweeper. Move away from those crappy old worm eaten rust buckets. nial

I know, actually, I hope you don't mind me asking, but are you my wife in disguise? T

Turned down a Colonial model at £220 recently, damascus barrels, nitro proof and good condition. Just didn't need another boxlock non-ejector (unless it's a real nice one).
Ballistix999, my Lancaster is a Crown model. Plain lock plates, just a bit of border engraving with a crown engraved on the locks. Nice piece of wood though. It is based on the Webley/Rogers action. 12 bore, 29" barrels, quite light and handles better than any other gun I have. It was almost certainly made by Webley and Scott. I like it. Lagopus......

Yep, you know what in the end, I bought two guns for the price of the Grant. The Lancaster (Yay!) and a Thomas Bland which is quite plane but really nice! Both going to be restored sympathetically (in my view).
Will post pics soon!
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
