I got one to drag thru the marsh when, for some reason the trigger guard on my old double trigger Rossi started eating me alive. I shoot the stoutest loads I can find, and so far the Stevens has done better than okay. I got some extended choke tubes and they also seem to be working well in the field after patterning well at the range, which is good because I shoot/will shoot Hevi-Shot, tungsten matrix, tungsten-iron, and anything else they come out with that is as dense or denser than lead.
It is not a splinter forend 28, and I am glad of that with my loads, but it does not handle bad either with enough weight forward to steady my swing if I get antsy.
I am really thinking of refinishing that stock to change the color though.
I gained a pretty good respect for Russian small arms via experience with the AK-47, and this gun hasn't changed my opinion for the worse. The forend shape is way better than some of those really fat beavertail ones around too.
