Thanks PJ. I'm working on better pics. Clicking them brings up a bigger pic, but maybe you knew that. The new ones should be sharper.

Sauer 143655 probably experienced final proof between 1910 & 1912. From memory, D.R.G.M. 157556 was from January 1901, so D.R.G.M. 130243 would have been circa 1898. It was for the blade type cocking indicators and I think were activated by the hammers. The safety is a Greener(Birmingham, England) type safety. Neat straight grip stock with swivels. 27" tubes is an interesting length.

I remeasured the barrels 26 3/4" 68cm. Not found tht length in any other posts so far. Better photos including proofs are at http://s1044.photobucket.com/albums/b443/Culitbob/J%20P%20Sauer%20and%20Sohn/

Looks like a Model 8 with a Greener crossbolt with lower scears. D.R.G.M. #130243 is for the blade cocking indicators. A little later the same model is shown with upper scears. Any chance of a pic of the area between the flats and the forend lug?

The D.R.G.M.s seem a bit loose as far as dating. So without an actual copy it is difficult to tell. The originals were probably lost during the war.

130844 - 2.24.1900
152004 - 3.23.1901
152292 - 3.29.1901
121257 - 12.15.1901

They were in effect for 6 years. Assuming that D.R.G.M. 130243 was issued in early 1900 then the number would be used for at least 6 years and then it would have been issued a serial number in 1907 or 1908. I'll look at Jeff Stephen's list in DGJ in 2004.

This is one site that lists some Sauer patent dates and information.

http://sauerfineguns.blogg.se/english/category/articles.html

The number below the barrel serial number is 1 3 8 which could fit with 1908 for the serial number.
