I don't much care for the miniatures in general, but man, he has some real talent there. Thanks for the link.

I am humbled when contemplating that work!

But, reflecting upon what I know about Wilson, I wonder if he ever paid for that rifle?

When i was working we did a lot of small complicated stuff that required the use of a microscope and believe me that is a whole new world. lot different than using a magniviewer. You have to anticipate everything.

I never collected miniatures, but I always had great respect for the folks who made them. The only reason I never bought one is that the really good ones understandably cost as much as the firearms they emulate.

1. Almost in the same class as Monte Mandarino, who I and Jerry Fisher think is the best individual gunmaker alive. Monte has been overheard to award that olive wreath to Jerry ....

2. But Mr. Connolly doesn't know enough to put open rear sights well forward.

3. JDS, don't knock Larry Wilson too hard, in his writing career he has done more for mainstreaming gun collectors and gun collecting than anyone else

Maybe so, but he has also done more to give us all a bad name as well. I know of no other person who has caused more hate and discontent and wasted/lost/defrauded money in the gun world than Larry. My friend Clarence the Collector knows Larry and has had a number of his firearms pictured in some of Larry's books (also George Madis' and others' books as well), you should hear some of the stories HE tells!

If Larry is your friend then I apologize for any distress my words may have caused you. I respect you for a number of reasons but I also disrespect Larry Wilson for another number of reasons, sorry.
Regards, Joe

I'm on your side Joe. I think Wilson is a greedy despicable person.

I have all of Wilson's books and think they are wonderful but wonder what he could have possibly been thinking to ruin his reputation and forever taint whatever of value he has done for the gun collecting world. The love of money must, indeed, be the root of all evil.
