Does anyone make one with removable chokes? I am thinking maybe I will buy one for next Duck Season.
Thanks

Out of production now, but still sometimes available, the Pietro Bernardelli Europa (or something like that). They were inexpensive when new and seem to have climbed in price, probably because they are nice handling and reasonably attractive guns that can shoot steel. Mine is 12 ga with 28" bbls, choke tubes, 3" chambers, straight grip with splinter f/e, DT, case color frame and oil finish wood, rolled "engraving." Made in Italy (and so stamped). Last ones were imported by Cape Outfitters, and Paul Crosnoe usually has one or knows where to find one. Only downsides are that extra choke tubes are almost impossible to find (came with IC/M/F), and the oil finish could use a couple more coats than the factory applied. Came in 12, 20 and 28 gauges. Have seen one with SST and PG.
I think some of the Fabarms doubles also meet your needs. Or, buy a BSS and have it tubed. Great guns.

from least expensive to more expensive: CZ-Huglu, Franchi, Beretta. Many choices on used market including: older Berettas, Fabarms, late versions of Winchester 23, later models of SKB just to name a few.

I've shot a BSS 12 ga at ducks with steel shot since 1985 and never had problem with it. Choked Mod and IC. Also, you might try a 12 ga RBL.

You say you want a side-by-side double for shooting steel and you'd like it to have screw-in chokes, well then you could not go wrong if you were to choose a gun designed by an American company and built for an American company---a Parker Reproduction DHE "Sporting Clays Classic" model. With its classic American styling, 3" chambers, factory Winchoke choke tubes and chrome lined bores it would seem to be the logical choice, but with only 125 of them ever produced it may prove to be a tough find. If you could live without the screw-in chokes you might also consider a somewhat more frequently encountered Parker Reproduction "Steel Shot Special" model (350 of these were produced). The SSS, also with 3" chambers, .740 bores and choked .006/.018 would likewise be on my short list of candidates. If these two suggestions prove too elusive, you may also consider a standard DHE Parker Repro as they were also safe to shoot steel through with any choking looser than full.

I use a CZ for waterfowl. They handle 3 inch shells. Here are some snows my wife and I shot with our CZ's this spring on my farm.

Hi, I'd also like to recommend any of the Fabarm Line (Classic Lion I & II and the Beta Classis). I have a Beta Classis, nice gun with a round body action. Good handling and well made. Mine has 28" bbls, PG, SST and tubes (approved for steel).
The Classic Lion series pop up a lot on the auction sites, but most have 26" bbls. But longer bbls are out there.
Also worth checking out are the later SKB 200 & 385 guns, these are also tubed and rated for steel. There common on the auction sites.
Anyway, good luck and have fun looking....that's most of the enjoyment!
All the best!
Greg

Call CSMC and ask for one of their 12 gauge RBL's in waterfowl configuration. Production has stopped but there are still some in stock. suitable for any non-toxic shot, choke tubes and made in the USA.-Dick
