Dick,
I'm not speaking for anyone but myself, but please remember how faceless internet based discussions are. Faceless, in that we get zero tonal inflection and zero body languange. If we were in a bar, the smiles that go along with the jabs would be obvious to all.

I know from personal experience that letting an internet based insult get under one's skin is HORRIBLE. You can't grab the guy by the lapels and 'splain it to him, so it gets stuck.

Another downfall of BBS's is unintended insults. I'd asked a question here and then responded to helpful post very quickly. Too quickly. Then after seeing the helper's "FU too" I realized my terse reply to his help was snippy and nasty to read. Totally the opposite of what I meant to convey.

Yeah, gjw asked about SST's and got a lot of SxS orthodox dogma in response, but that's the crowd here. My response to the orthodoxy is putting on pads with white line spacers.

Merry Christmas

PS I still pull the front trigger twice sometimes.

That's grammatical. ;-) Seriously, don't take anything on an EBB seriously. Remember, it's just a bunch of pixels on your screen. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all.

Hi Dick
You are somewhat correct. I did not answer the question. For clays I prefer selector with safety on tang ala browning. I also believe that conversations evolve and change. This happens face to face and in cyberspace.
Oh yeah Dick we never heard your opinion on which SST you like best??

The target guns I shoot have single triggers, the field SxS guns have double triggers and I seem (after 55 years) to be able to find the correct trigger for the situation when hunting. However the question was favorite single trigger. I think the answers will boil down to which one you became accustomed to. The Krieghoff model 32 with a selector lever inside the trigger guard works for me on target shooting as it is easy to operate and not integrated with anything else like the safety button - therefore it stays where I put it until I decide to change it. My other gun, a B. Rizzini has a selector on the safety slide and I sometimes inadvertently move it when pushing the safety off or handling the gun.

Who the heck are you guys talking about? I didn't see any bashing on this post. You can't expect every question to be answered exactly like you asked it. Some people like to ad lib a little. If you thought I was bashing a Model 21 because I was calling it my beater, well, that's what I call it. But only because it is old and in kind of rough shape so I don't mind taking it out and getting it roughed up. It is the only gun I bird hunt with because I love the 21s. But, I agree with Shotgun jones when he said to just shoot the bird. Sorry if I was being too flippant. But to be more specific as you wish, I like the button on the trigger. I just put it on the open barrel to shoot first and the tighter barrel to shoot second. Mainly because it is easier for me. Good luck to all.

Hmmm... I havent noticed any bashing or elitism on this thread. Just a bunch of folks discussing shotguns. Now... back to the regularly scheduled programming....

The neat thing about the Miller/Howland trigger is that the selection is performed by a natural move - namely taking the safety off. The barrel is selected each time you take off the safety. Push forward - right barrel first. Push safety off to the rear, left barrel first. Absolutely simple, and I have never understood why more selector schemes have not followed this approach.

The triggers which you must move a barrel selector from side to side in the safety slide - I find those very unuser friendly.

Regards

GKT

Wait a minute. That Dick didn't even ask the question, someone else did. Now he's giving us a hard time because we answered the question? Yes, reread the thread, we have been answering the question for four pages. He went whining to Dave about the rest of us and he expected Dave to do what? Whenever Dave appears at a shooting event, we gather around him like the hero he is. He loves us and we love him. However, you guys that like that sliding Miller trigger can go to Dick's house for Christmas dinner. I own a bag of them and hate them in the field. Oh, sorry, Dick, I was supposed to say which one I "like". I like any of them that work except the three position.

I've got a buddy that has a Win. 101 in 20 gauge. The selector is the safety button. It moves in a "U" shaped slot and occasionally gets hung up in the bottom of the "U" between the two slots that allow the button to move forward and disengage the safety.

It happens enough to be frustrating and has cost him a few shots at grouse. He'd just as soon disable the selector and have a non-selective gun

I've looked at the innards of the thing it looks like about the only way to practically do this is to weld the bottom of the "U" closed so that the safety/selector button can't come out of the slot.

I got a B-L4 a couple of years ago that has a small screw in the safety next to the selector button, blocking its movement. I've had a 686 before and never had a problem with the selector getting stuck in the middle, but I've left it there because I really never change the barrels. This doesn't seem like a very good solution for the 101 since the safety button would have to ride against the screw.

Any ideas for a solution to this?

Thanks.

I had a Weatherby Orion (SKB) with the selector on the trigger, and it worked fine out of the box for about fifty rounds, and then I had to send it in for warranty work because it wouldn't fire the second shot. That was the last single trigger gun I bought, with the exception of a single shot H&R turkey gun I just bought. The single trigger I prefer on a double is the one on someone else's gun. Make mine two triggers.

Only on the internet could there be something resembling a heated discussion about trigger usage. It would be silly if it weren't so funny. Going to Dave to tell on us? What, are we all in grade school? Have a great day everyone.

Dave told me that he was going to send Dick one of the fruitcakes from last year for a Christmas gift along with an apology for our behavior.
