Yep! Top one is for a Krag bottom one for a 1903 converted to .22LR by Niedner. I would like to find more or at least learn about others. http://www.google.com/patents?id=3VpmAAA...;q=&f=false

I wish one of the owners had a box of cartridges like yours. As far as Hoffman stuff goes just a few boxes of .300 ammo and the .280 Dubiel Magnum Mauser.

I have the original shop ledger from Hoffman Arms for 1923-1925. It's where they logged in any guns that were shipped in for repairs and guns, etc. that were sold. The bolt peep sight sold for $25 in 1923!!

This stuff is pretty neat: An original and still full shipping crate of .280 bullets from the Western Tool & Copper Works addressed to my Great Uncle which he bought in 1941. $27 worth and $1.50 for shipping.   Also a box of .404 Jeffery which could be bought at the local hardware store. Hardware store indeed!

WOW! We might be able to solve a big mystery regarding Western Tool and Copper. What is the return address on the case, I hope it's not a PO Box ;-).
For the folks who may not know what I'm talking about. WT&C bullets has been somewhat of a mystery as who owned the business, where the bullets were made and by whom. Rumor was they were made in prison but I've never found anything concrete on the firm.

looking at the photograph of the box Huvius posted, there appears to be the Western Tool & Copper Works name and a P.O Box no on the upper left hand corner of the box. Unfortunately I cannot get more definition using Photoshop.
Surely a P.O Box no. should be traceable though. Enlist the services of your friendly postman, he may be able to help.
It may be that the P.O Box no, is still valid, it wouldn't harm anyone if you wrote a letter addressed to that PO Box with an enquiry inside. The worst that can happen is that it will be returned to sender. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Just my 2 bucks worth. (Hey you have to allow for inflation these days.) lol.
