On early guns as yours, when optional front and mid-beads were ordered they were most often double ivory beads; and, if you are asking for an opinion as what to use on this high-grade LeFever, I would suggest the installation of ivory beads. And congratulations on your fine LeFever!

I should mention, IMO, I'm not real fond of the Galazan/Brownell "plastic looking" ivory beads. I understand there is a dealer in England offering a better quality ivory bead, but I can't recall his name...anyone? Or, what's your favorite recipe to "age" these new ivory beads? How long did it take? The target lies within.

It would be very difficult to tell exactly what bead was used on this gun. The ones I have seen have all been brass. But that may just be my limited exposure. Here is an ad from 1909: A page out of the 1904-05 catalog: With all the options listed in the various catalogs, I have never seen one mention the bead. But again, maybe I just missed it.
