Second, this is really a job for an experienced builder, and where better to find likely candidates? As well, after doing a bit of this on-line selling for the fellow, I've found that literally hours can be spent E-mailing pics and talking to folks who are just looking for a bit of "Geez, I wish..." gun-fantasy entertainment. "Target a more specific market?" occurs to me. ;~`)
Story: A long-time ML/BP/gunsmith friend has developed health problems that affect his eyesight and hands. Final finish of the piece is not within his reach, anymore. But, it is so nearly completed that it's down to trigger adjustments and some other tweaks.
The gun: All high quality components, including 12ga tube set, patent hook breech, locks & triggers, & trim. Hard English walnut stock, all parts inletted and stock smoothed shaped, ready for final refinements. This is a pre-1780- or 90's style, which is wider across the breech, than the later 1820's styles.
The price: 1600.00 firm. Price the components alone, and you'll appreciate that figure. "No rush." he said. "I want to break a few clays with it before I sell it."
