If you post pictures of the proof marks, it may be possible to determine when it was proofed.

Thomas:

I have JUST the same gun you describe in my safe. Bought it by accident after Jim Supica at Old Town Station described it as " unknown maker extremely heavy 12g". After I got it, I sent him a note explaining it was a 10 Mag. He replied that that explained why it was so heavy.

I kept it for when I needed tube Air Defense Artillery.

Built circa mid=50's, has a Belgian year mark Greek Letter "gamma", which I think means 1956 - I am out of town and I don't have access to my notes about the date codes.

The gun is solid, workmanlike, heavy and serviceable.

Did I say it was heavy? Which is a good thing for a 10 magnum. It swings nicely.

Regards

GKT

The Crown/EL is first provisional proof, The PV mark is for smokeless powder. 10-89 is gauge & chamber length 89mm being 3½". 2kg580 is 2.580 kilograms for the weight of barrels only or 5.689lbs.
