Are CSMC Galazan M21 guns marked as such?? What are the differences in markings from the original Winchester M21s?? I have never handled one to look at the markings on the barrels and water table. Thanks. Tom
CSMC made Winchester marked Model 21's for USRAC and for Olin after USRAC went defunct. So there are Winchester marked Model 21's out there made by CSMC, mainly the Grand Royals and later USRAC Custom Shop guns.
Tony purchased the tooling from USRAC but told me in the early 1990's, that a Grand Royal($55K at that time) would be made on the original tooling but a CSMC marked gun would be made on newer machines, I assume CAM.
There are Model 21's out of the Custom Shop that may have no Winchester markings externally. I have a Custom Grade(20 gauge 3" 1968) that is not marked on the external barrels but only on the barrel flats and watertable. It does have a hard Winchester butt plate, so marked. The gun is 100% original.
My CSMC 'Baby' frame is marked 'Made in U.S.A. Model 21,
Connecticut Shotgun MFG. New Britain, CONN.' on the watertable with a Proof Mark and 28 also.
The barrels are only marked visually externally 'Model 21 CSM 28 GAUGE 2@3/4' with 'Trade Mark' under the CSM.
The undersides of the barrels are marked 'CT .SHOTGUN MFG. NEW BRITAIN CT USA'.
I would expect that as with any manufacturer, the location and markings vary over time.-Dick
