Kroil is a little hard to find if you don't live in the big city.Brownell's has it and only a phone call away.

Whenever the WD-40 bashers start their diatribe I have to wonder how many of them have ever even used WD-40, let alone personally experienced the usual alleged problems. Polly wanna cracker? WD-40 IS a poor lubricant simply because it's too thin for most applications, not because it turns to "instant varnish" as is so often alleged. I have used it for about 50 years and have never seen it turn to "varnish". It is a pretty fair bore cleaner and an excellent bore preserver and rust preventative. The Water Displacing ability makes it a fine bore coating to use after cleaning muzzle loaders with water(the best way). I have not had much use for it as a penetrating oil. I prefer Liquid Wrench or Kroil.
I'm speaking from many years of personal experience, not what I read somewhere or heard somebody's uncle daddy say.

All first hand experience here. I'll guaranfreakintee you it turns into crap that is like glue within 8 years. How much sooner than 8 years i dont know. The gun I left sit covered with it sat that long unexamined and removing it was a matter of scraping it off as nothing I found would cut it. And even 3InOne oil would have protected my gas rings on the 16 better.

I second the it works for me. I'm not blasting it into the trigger groups, but not that I never did it on my 1100's and and I've used it on my Benelli S90. None of my doubles have ever rusted inside or out and most get lots of storage between use. Its cheap and always available when you need another can. Never seen it build up into a deposit either. 30 years of use. JW

3INONE- Cleans, Lubricates & Prevents rust. Sound familar?? Another Great Product which has been "Un Deservedly" maligned. I agree with Jim, WD-40 is a great product for its intended uses, like most anything else it is "Not for Everything".

8-Years; I would never even consider using it for something I didn't expect to touch for 8 years.

What is the source for this story? Why would anyone want a tank, fuel lines and carburetor full of "instant varnish)?
Thank you,

So with one product (WD-40), I can lubricate, rust-proof, and also refinish my gun stock??? Cool. I still think Kroil is over priced crap on steroids. Better than nothing, but not much.

With Ballistol you get a wart remover and possibly a tonic for irregularity! I thought this was about penetrating oil rather than something that stops hobby horses from squeaking but we goeth where the Wind listeth, do we not?
