Old friend dropped off a gun for me. It needs the typical restock and restore job most projects seem to need these days. It is a pre-war Super O/U with two triggers. In fact it was the two triggers that made him think of me as he said he could not stand two triggers and knew I could. I did not show him that in fact these two triggers were just a special one trigger if operated properly. It is the two trigger which stopped me from tossing the gun out the back door after he left. Those two triggers look neat on a O/U.

Basics of the gun. Two triggers, broken, cracked and abused stock. 30" barrels that are Mod. and Full. The gun is loose, well off face is a nice way to say it. Metal is clean, with little finish remaining, no pitting. Bore are perfect and no dents on the barrels.

So has anyone restored or restocked a Browning lately? I do not want to just send it to Art's and drop two grand in a restoration project. Even free it would be a money pit. It needs to be put back on face. The restock I can handle but it may have to be converted to a straight grip to fit into my gun room.

I know some one here has restored and restocked a Browning. What are my major pit falls here?

Hello
Are the triggers double double triggers? If you pull the front one twice with recoil, will the gun fire both barrels? Same way if you pull the rear trigger twice with recoil, will it fire the both barrels in reverse order?
Thanks
Mike

Yes you can fire both barrels from either trigger. Rather a neat option. I have learned to move from one trigger to the next. Wonder if this will become a natural or if I will just use both as a normal two trigger gun.

Don't you wonder who could allow such a nice gun to get so abused? I mean, what on earth must they have done with it to get it into that kind of shape? TT

I have an early 30s double trigger Superposed that I restored. I had a new stock made by Wenig from not-too-fancy English walnut. Then I decided I wanted Claro so I had another one made. The first stock should fit your gun. Let me know if you're interested.

Called the 'Double-Single' trigger.

Essentially two non-selectable single triggers in one gun. Only used for the first few years of production.

There were also some made with true double triggers.

Richard,

If you haven't heard from the original poster, I might be interested in you buttstock. What configuration? Straight, PoW or pistol grip?

Can you email me a Marksman60 at hotmail.com ?

Thanks!

The "anyway you want it" triggers which KY is dealing with were called the "twin-single"--either trigger being capable of firing both barrels in sequence but the selection for first barrel being in the choice of trigger just as in "double" triggers. They could also be pulled front to rear and rear to front to fire respective barrels just as in the case of double triggers. At least that's the way old #278X works. Other than the name, Utah's description is correct I think. Don't see the "anti-crossfire rib and the horseshoe forend every day either.

Browning ads of the period advertised them as the "Twin Single" trigger option I believe,

The odd thing is that they seem to work forever. I've never owned a Browning Twin Single that needed repair. My favorite Twin Single gun has worked forever.
