Does anyone know if an FFL in the states can ship a gun to Canada without doing a bunch of paperwork for export?

Daryl that's what I thought about the whole deal but this guy keeps asking me. I've called the BATF and of course noone answers the phones. I've left many messages and no return calls.

Mike, you might want to wait a bit to see if the law here actually changes, it may get easier down the road as there is still some paperwork required.
Depending on where in Canada you are dealing with there are a few FFL dealers that will export via the proper channels,..the people at Buffalo Gun in NY come to mind as well as an outfit in Montana, butI can't think of their name.
Was told that Griffin and Howe offer a cervice but they are very expensive.

Best

I have brought up a number of guns over the last few years. Always used Leroys in Montana, which is probably the outfit you are refering to, Claudio.

Cost for their work is $100 for the first gun and $25 for each additional done at the same time. At least that what it was last time I did it. I know the rules/cost has changed significantly on RIFLES recently but I believe no change on shotguns. When I add in the freight I usually paid about $200 per shotgun plus duty, if applicable and taxes. If you brought in three guns at the same time you'd probably get the average per gun down to around $100 - $125.

Paperwork at my end is relatively simple and Leroys was good to deal with. Would use them again.

Yup That's the one. A friend of mine just used them on a transaction and was quite pleased with the results,..mind you he lives out west right across the border, don't know how much work would be involved using them from this end of the country

What about the other way? What does it take to import a gun from Canada to here?

I believe if you go to the website http://www.losttarget.com you'll find information that Joe has posted about bring firearms into and out of Canada.
