I am looking for a tweed vest or waistcoat to use to shoot in vintage events. I ordered a Musto waistcoat which was well made but I didn’t care for the fit. Anyone have a brand that they prefer?
Thanks
Z

Barbour makes some nice relatively affordable waistcoats and I have one. Beretta manufacturing from Italy is superb but most of thier stuff is now off shore.
Much of the Brit stuff, especially Purdey and the like is very high priced.
If fit is a problem there always custom but the price is high. Ermilio Custom Clothiers in Penn can make what you want to measure and they are the best in the USA and rank with anyone in the world.

I use a Purdey waistcoat which I got at the CLA Game Fair for £89 - down from £350!! Clearly this may not be an option for you regrettably, but one UK option which could possibly work is

who come very highly recommended on this side of the pond. I am considering purchasing a full shooting suit from them later next year.

I appreciate your comments. I do not understand the high prices that are charged for waistcoats other than the makers can and the shooters pay the price. Certainly they are more expensive to make than a typical US shooting vest but at prices of $3-500, they seem unreasonably expensive. I managed to find a Musto technical tweed waistcoat at $160, but as noted above, I am not entirely happy with the fit. I had looked at a number of European/British sites and this seemed to be the “best deal”. I thought the Barbour was nice as well, although I have not seen one in person, but if it is anything like by Beaufort jacket it will be very good quality. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks
Z
