I am NOT affiliated with Bonhams & Butterfields, although have spent a fair amount of money there in the past. Their November auction has a number of interesting guns: Several odd ball combination guns, an 18 pound 12 gauge O/U with octagonal barrels (WT...?), an O/U 8 bore, a whole mess of trap guns, a couple of shotgun drillings, and so on. I am planning to go to the preview at least to check them out. Here's the web-link: http://www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.sh...p;iSaleNo=17533Maybe I will see you there? Lou M

I can't imagine where they got this stuff. It is the most unbelieveable group of guns I have ever seen.

I found the triples, but which one is the quadruple one? THe estimates seem low for some of these guns.

Sliver, I thought the same about the estimates. Low estimates get my heart racing, until the brain wakes up. Still, I bid based upon the estimates, and get creamed.
The 'quadruple' I may have been thinking of was a veirling (sp?) two rifle and two shot barrels. Sorry if I gave the impression it was four shot barrels.
Isn't that 8 bore O/U a sight? Or the 18 lb. 12 gauge O/U? Did they build that for someone to workout with in order to get in shape for dove season? I would sure like to know what was going through someone's mind when they commissioned some of those pieces. Lou M

What was going through their minds when most of the guns in that auction were made? Obviously someone with money, an imagination, and no thought of resale value. What about the Holland and Holland double rifle engraved by Donald Duck? Would you guys consider staying off the eight bore over under so I can make a fool of myself?

No one will be writing comparative studies of o/u action depth with the 8 ga. as an example and that's a shame as circus freaks are fun. The "side-opener" o/u with the sight dovetail in the rib interests me. Is it a slug gun of the world as we know it? Who is/was Castellani of Gardone?

Regarding Lot #5765. Why is there a rhino, lion, and a buffalo on a 7 1/2 lb 12 gauge O/U?
All of those guns made by Juch, look like they were actually used. Not just produced, because you COULD make it, but because you actually WANTED it for some purpose. Those two super-sized O/Us look like they got knocked around a bit. Juch, as a builder sounds like an interesting cat. Or is he just someone who couldn't say, "No?"
I don't mean to insult the consignor, if he or she is reading these posts, but I would sure like to know the history here.
Looking forward to the trip to the City, and see them first hand. Lou

I guess we have to buy the catalog to get information on the collection or the consignor. It looks like a DEA confiscation from a Mexican or Columbian drug cartel. Who else would throw that kind of money around and then trash the guns? There is not a serious collector gun in the whole lot. However, I've only read the catalog once. I need to go back again.

It would be nice to have a vierling for 3-5K. THis one seems to have two .244 Rem barrels. Why two of the same kind?
