Can anyone definitively say what finish is on the Win 101 Super Grade XTR? It was made for the European market and is not blue. It looks kinda like a coin finish but not exactly..for sure not stainless. I'm at a loss.

I used to own a Winchester Pigeon Grade XTR that had a silver colored receiver and I gather it was the same finish. I would try calling Hampels in Traverse City, MI they used to be a large dealer of Winchesters and they may know. That is where I purchased the above gun in maybe 1982.

I am quite sure Winchester specs called for 'Industrial Electrolus Nickel' plating on those guns..(Japan manufactured).....but for definitive proof, contact the Cody Museum in Wyoming who houses all the records and documents...Curator David Kennedy would confirm this information
His phone number is 307-578-4109...

Regards,

Doug
