Does anyone know who is lining barrels using tig welding in the Philadelphia area as done in England? Overheard a conversation the other day where someone is having their SxS lined while their friend just received their gun back and said the work was phenomenal. Thanks in advance, G.

Assuming you beleive the sleeving done in England to be the best to be had I suggest you ask Small Bore to recommend a sleever there who might do the job. Also, you might read in his book, Ventage Guns for the Modern Shot on pages 49 thru 50 what he has to say about sleeving. If a sleever is in reality very good he will charge the same in Flordia, Texas, or England. The only difference being the difference in the dollar and the pound. And do not forget the postage which may or may not be of consequence.Small Bore is on this forum and resides in England.

Do you mean sleeving or lining? Teague lining does not utilize welding at all and the seams are nearly invisible. With lining you retain the original outsides of your barrels and with sleeving new barrels are welded or soldered to the old mono block. Sorry I missed the obvious difference. The original question assumed that linners were tig welded. I incorrectly transposed this to mean sleeving...possibly it was the tig welding that threw me off. The original statement led one to believe the person asking direction thought the English produced the best results. This may or may not be the case. In my opinion if you believe they (British) do in fact provide a superior job then you should use them. Only then will you have 1/2 the experience you need to judge your belief.
