Have a Fox custom sxs in the works. Appreciate any sources of ivory beads, or whether those provided by Galazan are a good option. Trying to capture the type of beads (front and center) currently on a couple of my Fox SW's. Thanks

Brownells carries a variety of both real and imitation ivory beads.

There are lots of ivory beads out there from various sources, but finding one with the right combination of size/shape and mount to fit your barrels makes it difficult (press fit vs threaded, then the issue of thread diameter and pitch). Vintage beads sometimes show up on ebay.

Some talented gunsmiths claim that they turn their own from ivory scraps. I have used the ones Tony Galazan sells from his catalog. I put a monster bead on my .410 Parker because I thought I needed all the help I could get. The gunsmith thought it was out of proportion, but I like them big. I think that one came from Tony.

I've used the ones with just a "post" on them; chuck them up in a Dremel tool or drill, use a fine file, and you can turn 'em down to whatever size you like. A drop of epoxy holds them in without altering the gun. Also, soaking them in tea will give them an aged patina.
