I'm looking to locate a gunsmith in the Northern Nevada, Northern California area that can lengthen the chambers on my Sterlingworth from 2 1/2" to 2 3/4". There is a local gunsmith in Carson City NV who can do it but he's booked two months out. I may have to drive a bit but any suggestions will be appreciated.

You'd be forced to ship the brls but Keith Kearcher in Bend, OR might be able to get the work done for you sooner. 541-617-9299.

I'd recommend Mike Orlen. He's on the other side of the country but is usually very quick. And reasonable. JL

I just recently got the chambers in my grandfather's LC Smith lengthened by Mike Orlen. His turn-around time is measured in days, not months. His prices are so low they would make me question the quality of his work if he did not have an excellent and wide-spread reputation.

Check this out. http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=36237

Granted, you would have to ship the barrels - but only the barrels, which do not have to be treated as a "firearm". Shipping them would be quicker and cheaper than driving to an adjoining state to deliver and pick up the barrels.

You might want to check threads on lengthening chambers before you do it. It may not only not be necessary but, depending on who you talk with, might not even be a good idea.
