I was able to get my brother out of "road march discipline" long enough to stop at two "gun sites" between Dulles Airport and Bainbridge Island, WA. One was First Stop Gun Shop in Rapid City, SD (where our father nearly starved to death in the last depression) and the other was C. Sharps Arms in Big Timber, MT. I called ahead to let them know we were coming and they treated us like visiting royalty (actually just the way good potential customers should be treated but often aren't).

We got to fondle all of their types and models of single shot rifles and then to see the whole process from billet to final finish. Place is a mixture of the newest technology and the old file and fit. You'll love it. I especially appreciate the way they turn the metal "scrap" from the forgings into "the rest of the gun." Thrifty, traditional! Like it should be.

Now I have to figure out how I can come up with the balance of the cost of the Hiwall I put a deposit on.....

If you are ever travelling on I-90 in Montana and like single shots, take the time to stop at C.Sharps. They also sell all the relevant books, reloading doohickies of all sorts, and scrap walnut that is good enough to eat at $1-4 a stick.
