There are two distinctly different Lefever single barrels. There is the gun made in the 1905-06 time frame by D.M. Lefever Company, Bowling Green, Ohio. After Uncle Dan died his son Frank became plant superintendant at the Three-Barrel Gun Co. in West Virginia, and many of these Lefever singles were finished up and marketted as Three-Barrel Gun Co. or Royal Gun Co. products.
Ithaca made a hammerless single barrel under the Lefever name from 1927 to 1942. It was offered in two versions. The Model 2 had a plain barrel and was made in 12-, 16-, and 20-gauges and .410-bore. The Model 2 had the lengthy name "Lefever Long Range Single Barrel Field and Trap" and sold for $17.20 in the fall of 1935. The same gun in 12-gauge only with 32-inch barrel was fitted with a vent rib similar to that on the Ithaca Knick Model, and a trap-configured stock, and was called the Model 3. The Model 3 was called "Lefever Single Barrel Trap Ventilated Rib" and sold for $37.80. The Model 3 was still catalogued in 1947.
