I had a CSMC Fox made a couple of years abo and I'm thinking about getting a 21 made to use for clays and waterfowl. I have been to CSMC a couple of times, but mainly to look at their Fox's and pick wood, etc. How do you like your 21? I would most likely get a straight stocked 21 with 30-32" bbls. I am very tall, so I like longer bbls. I am undecided about vent ribs or not? I would also get it un-engraved.
Thanks!

Kevin,

Greg Hartman had a Win M21 Trap gun tricked out for clays. Not CSMC version but seemd to work well for him. If I remember correctly it was 32" barrels, vent rib, single trigger without engraving. Semi(?) BT front end with a raised/flat rear comb sans cheekpiece (ie Paralell comb).

If he is still around he might be willing to let you try it out. LOP could be adjusted easily with a slip on pad just to give you an idea of how it shoots and what you do/don't like about that particular setup.

FWIW.

Hope all is well.

Hey Kevin, I have the CSMC 21 20/28 gauge set I had made years ago and would be interested in selling. I also have an original 21, 12 gauge with 32" vent rib barrels and re-stocked by Tom Smith with a paralell combe for sell if interested.

Kevin,

Just received this one a few days ago. Have not shot it yet. Dedicated clays gun with 30 inch barrels for skeet and 32 inch barrels for sporting. Built to my specs and in a reasonable time. Happy so far. Will know more when I shoot it.

Tim,
That is a beauty! That is exactly what I want except with a straight stock. Does it balance the same with both barrels? I thought the vent rib might compensate for the extra 2". Also, I thought all their actions were flatsided?

Kevin,

Actually the 30 inch barrels are 3 ounces lighter than the 32 inch barrels. Gun balances just to the front of the hinge pin with the 32s (where I specified) and just to the rear with the 30s. I did give them some wiggle room on that in my specs. For skeet personally I do not mind a little faster swing.

They charge a little extra for the raised side panels but I prefer the look with the checkered stock cheeks. Some prefer the other way.

Good luck.
