Hello. It's my first time on Double gun forums. Please be gentle. Anyone know how to make Slakum? Please let me know if you don't mind. I've got a personal project that has a lot of sentimental value to me and I'd like to get the best finish possible. I'll be using a super curly walnut fiddleback blank and I'd like that old fashioned Purdy and sons look if possible. I do have previous experience w/Birchwood Casey's w/great results but I'd like to "Step it up a notch" on this project. If I'm able to get the recipe, I could sure use the process and application information as well. I know that it's a lot to ask for, but hey, thought you guys might like to help! Thanks in advance.

It is a slow process, but I am getting good results on my first attempt.

Thanks for the comment. Time is really no problem to me, so I plan on taking a while as well to finish my project. Any idea how I can actually make the Slakum oil myself? Thanks.

very lightly.....wipe on, wipe all excess off. allow to dry, it can be several days or more depending mostly on humidity from what I can tell.
