Looking for opinions on the Spanish 3 1/2" 10 ga. sidexsides. I would also be interest in a Ithaca NID 3 1/2 10ga.
Thanks Bob

Avoid Spanish single triggers, ESPECIALLY in 10ga--doubling in a 10 Mag. cam't be pretty..... Only ones I've every fired were Zabala Hermanos, which are usually pretty rough guns that function fine. A Beretta Model 410 in 10ga, if you can find one, is a nicer gun. A well-preserved NID 10 "New Mag" is kinda the "Holy Grail" of sky-scrapers. (Personally I think the "Old Mag" (2 7/8") is plenty for 95 percent of waterfowling.)

Thanks Mike, I have a 1890 NH Parker 10 2 7/8 that I load for and hunt with and I love it. I'm just trying to keep it the well preserved condition its in. It looks like the mag ten has a lot more loads to choose from. Bob

Bob think about this differently, if you buy another Parker 10 you will cut down the wear and tear on your NH by 50%, buy two and only 33% of the expected wear will occur. Adding more Parker 10's to your collection will be your best bet for preservation :-)

I've owned a couple of the Spanish double 10's over the years. First one was a club, shooting it was like trying to swing on a baseball by holding the bat at the wrong end. The second was extra heavy but a decent handling gun and was fair quality. I think both were Richardson imports if memory serves.

If you poke around on GunBroker you'll occasionally find a magnum 10 gauge double that's a Belgian import. The couple of those I've handled were very decent guns. Decent fit and finish, triple bite, even had a Greener style crossbolt. A buddy had one for sale last year that he'd had restocked to fit that I should have bought actually. I need a backup double 10 to shoot steel out of for the sad day when I finally run out of Federal Tungsten Polymer 3 1/2 shells for my Parker magnum.

I picked up a 3-1/2" 10ga. AYA w/ 32" barrels choked .045 &. 045 last year. I was hoping to use it for goose this past season but that didn't pan out, hopefully this year. It balances about 2" in front of the pin and weighs 9-10, not too bad to swing.

It looks like it got no use at all and cost about the same as a 12ga. Nitro Special, not much. Case colored and pretty good checkering, raised rib. Imported by Firearms International, Washington DC. They're around.

My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.

I would second Robs suggestion re the AYA 10 magnum.I have owned at least 3 over the last 25 years. The first couple were great for pass shooting with the 32" barrels and weighed around 9 1/2 lbs.The one I currently have I wanted to customize for all round pass, decoy and punt shooting.I sent it to Briley about 10 years ago and had the barrels shortened to 28" and thin wall steel choke tubes installed. It now weighs 8 3/4 lbs., swings about twice as fast, but still balances about 1" ahead of the hinge pin.It has digested a ton of heavy lead and steel 3 1/2" magnums of all pellet sizes and is tight as a drum. Top lever well right of center. My go to gun for serious goose harvesting in tough conditions. Terry

MarketHunter, I forgot about the "Belgian Mercury" 10 mags that were imported years ago. Handled several and they seemed decent guns. Can't remember manufacturer but do remember that they have been discussed on this forum.
