LINK FIXED!

I bought this today:
http://www.simpsonltd.com/product_info.p...a8bab0d82404643

The left barrel has an insert that they claim is for a 5.6x52R (.22 Savage High Power). We'll see.

The Husqvarna references I have do not show a Model 103 combination gun. The left barrel is noticably smaller than the right barrel. I know that the Model 52 Husky came with rifled 20 and 28 guage barrels. Maybe something like that?

But I wonder just how the insert was put in and if removed can the gun be returned to its original chambering? I suppose if the bores were not reamed out this would be the case. Great price either way and I like the 103s.

Anyone ever seen one done this way?

Rudy, I tried to follow your link, but could not find the gun you bought. Is your gun a sxs or o/u? I have a Husqvarna Model 51 hammer sxs 12ga. and have enjoyed it. The only combination gun I have is a Sauer 12ga x .43 Mauser (11,15X60R) hammer-cape. I bought it to use this Spring hunting Turkeys in an area with a good supply of wild hogs as a bonus target. It seemed like a good remedy for that particular combination of game and I plan to shoot a deer with it next fall. If you restore the gun to it's original chambering, ammo may be hard to find...I know this because I found you do not just run over to the local Walmart and grab a box of .43 Mauser rounds...Geo

George. Link should work now. I shoot lots of obsolete cartridges and have sources to make components for what I cannot find. Comparing this one to ones in 12.7x44 or 9.3x57R/360 also on the site, I would bet on a "guage" rifle barrel of 20 or 28 gauge. I already have a 20 gauge rifle and can find brass 28 gauge shells. Both are made to shoot a round ball.

nice lil' turkey, or small game plus outfit. the 4,6gm 5,6x52r slug has E160m of .222 at 100m (about 1001j). if you buy it just make sure to get it in wrinting that if rifle barrel is not 5,6x52r you can return it no questions asked. got to watch out for american gunsmithing alterations, you know.

Jagermeister:
The 5.6x52R chambering was their "best guess". This may be based on a chamber cast or possibly just a visual. They do both, but not to all guns. But I like mystery cartridges. No American gunsmith has touched this, as it is recently imported from Sweden. I am still holding out hope that the left barrel is a guage rifle. And if the insert was just a drop in, I am good to go. If it has been buggered up, then I have a single shot or project gun.
