If you want factory dimensions, then go to Wenig and have them do the stock. They have SX-1 factory stock dimensions in their CNC routing machines and can crank out an SX-1 stock by the push of a button. Their wood or yours, any grade.
Even to do a custom fitted stock, get Wenig to crank out a semi-inletted of the cheapest wood for pattern stock work...I think one cost me $90. Then work with your stock maker (bondo and rasps) to get the dimensions you want, then back to Wenig for duplicating in final wood.
As for checkering and finishing, you can let Wenig do this, but if you want B grade type checkering, I would talk to John Reese in Montana of Custom Diamonds,
http://www.customdiamonds.biz/index.html, W (406) 883-1465, M (406) 249-3199. His checkering is impecible, he's fast and not over priced, and he can do a nice finish for you also.
Then there is, of course, our own Doug Mann of whom I can't speak highly enough...but I'm not sure his level of interest in stocks for autos vice for SxS's.
