The Rice peep is actually one of the best sights for a Krag and requires no d&t or new holes, I think it cost a buck in the 1930s. Adjusts for both w&e.

I agree with Mark, the Rice may not look like much but it’s one of the better sights for the Krag. It’s back by your eye, you have both windage and elevation adjustments and you can remove the bolt without disturbing your zero.

I took the Krag out yesterday with the Rice peep sight. Not something I would take to Camp Perry but minuet-of-moose. Yes that's a paper plate, of late I've been using them for a target for the sporting rifles that have a bead front sight, most do, works good you can see a halo of white around the front sight, even a ivory one.

If you put all your shots in that pie plate at 100 yards, you should be able to drop that buck that walks by. That old 30-40 will do a fine job on a deer. Fun too!
