Hi,
Just bought some West Coast "Magnum" #9 shot today at the St. George Sportsman's Warehouse. $29.99. Lowest it's been here for some time. I understand SW is closing 23 stores and selling 15 others, to a Canadian outfit. The four in Utah are expected to remain open.

Have been buying it there in St. George for over two months at that price....$29.99...all they have had for the last couple of weeks are the #9....I bought most of the 7 and 7.5 that they had....they still don't have any powder...!!

Their website lists all the stores they are closing and selling off....F.Y.I....

BEST,

Doug

Locally, $22 for Eagle magnum, made in Peru. The standard around here (most readily available) has been Lawrence from Illinois and some people scorn the "furrin" stuff. But like everything else, it pays to be multi-sourced.

I got bored one evening and weighed out exactly 1 ounce Of #8 and #7.5 from a bag of each. Miking 10 of each showed no significant differences. Counting the pellets in each hinted at differences in the antimony content, but they flip-flopped, i.e., one brand had more #8/ounce, the other brand had more #7.5/ounce. The striking difference though was that the 1 ounce of Lawrence #7.5 had 4 "dumb bells" in it; 4 instances of 2 pellets fused together.

Not scientific, but enuff to convince me I'm OK with the Peruvian stuff for $1-2 less/bag.

Do you shoot at Purgatory Clay Sports? If so, we must know each other.

The latest price for 25 lbs hard shot at Thunder Mountain Trap/Skeet Range (Ringwood, NJ) is $38.00 down from a high of $45.

Another previous local source - Ramsey Outdoors (Ramsey, NJ) - no longer stocks shot, or wads, or ....
They will no longer 'accommodate reloaders.'

$24.99 at the local Black Sheep yesterday, for all shot sizes in inventory (4,6,7.5, 8.5,(8.5-didn't know it existed) and 9). They were out of 8's, but there was a sign where the 8's were supposed to be for the same price!

VPT,

They don't sell a lot and they paid for the lead at its peak. They don't want to lose money on it but they will eventually.
