I am trying to figure out the maker and proofs on a reproofed Birmingham gun. The new nitro proof is 28-70 950 bar. The old proof has 132 Birmingham view mark and 32 with c below in the triangle. It also has the crown over R and a G in a triangle. There is also a S on the brl flats. Rt brl has 13.5 and left brl 13.6 The twist brls have been redone but there is no name on the rib. H & N is on the brl flats. The G in the triangle is on both sides of brl flats and another on the left brl btm, the action flats also has the same on each side of flat. I was told the gun is a Holloway & Naughton but seems to me the gun is too old for that. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks, Dwight

For some reason I seem to recall some funny math in the 950 bar conversion. But it sounds the subject longarm began as a 32 bore and was opened up to a 28 bore. The crown over R possibly notes the original proof was black powder and the current is smokeless, possibly along with some alteration. Are the twist tubes Belgian? Can you post or email a pic of the flats? What are you wall thicknesses? Has it been sleeved?
Kind Regards,

13.5 & 13.6 are .5315" & .5354" respectfully. 32ga = .526"; 28ga = .550". Appears like it hasn't been bored all the way up to 28ga size, other than the chamber. Crown/R denotes re-proof, not familar with the G in triangle.

I plan to get the brls measured in the next couple of days. The guns wt is around 6 lbs with 30" brls but would have been a little less since a 1" silvers pad was added. It probably was a rifle or shot when made. I have never seen the G mark or can I find it in any proof mark data. The gun has not been sleeved and I don't see any Belgian marks on the twist brls. Sorry about the pics since I have not figured out that part of posting yet. Anyone seen an H & N gun with something on the rib to identify the maker? Thanks for the input, Dwight
