I friend from overseas recently acquired a very nice Daly I thought might interest the group. This is on the only muzzle loading Daly I have recorded. The quality is tremendous. The barrels are fantastic.

On a somewhat related note, I believe the actual date SD&G began selling Charles Daly guns is at least five years earlier than the 1875 date provided in the Blue Book.

Ken,

Wonderful gun. Wish we could see more pictures. Even the thimbles for the ramrod are damascus!

According to the DGJ article, it looks as if anything prior to the late 1870's would not have been H. Lindner guns. Perhaps built by his father Georg, before Heinrich took over the business?

MP,

It is the same gun - stock wood is identical. I have some additional photos I can post. It really is a nice one.

Larry,

Heinrich went into business in 1874. He would have been 24 at the time. It appears there were a couple makers of the earliest Dalys. That said, many otherwise unmarked very early Dalys that have some of the same stylistic features of the earliest Heinrcih Lindner guns may have came from Georg. He is the one most likely to have set young Heinrich up with the lucrative SD&G business. I have no proof yet, but that is my hunch.
