It would bring more in the USA....people over here see the Purdey name and lose all senses.

Nice old gun looks like she's lost her original rammer along the way. I'd be more concerned about bore diameters and condition than anything I see in these pictures.

as a point of reference; there was a matched pair of Purdey muzzleloaders in origianl case with tools and documentation for sale at a show last year. If I rememeber correctly they were flintlocks.
The asking price as about $7,000.

Hi Smallbore, that ties in with my experience, I bought an 1840ish Harkom, cased, 2 years ago.Has a bit of provenance (grouse gun of Mr Grant of whisky fame with letter confirming) It needed two new nipples and the case needed work, I paid £1700 plus £300 repairs etc. I will try and post pics when I get to London end of March, best, Mike

The links below ar to the upcoming Holt's auction. The first gun, JOSEPH LANG & SONS, LONDON,A FINE CASED 11-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION LIVE PIGEON GUN, serial no. 3875, is estimated at £7,000-9,000

The second gun, ALEXR. MARTIN, GLASGOW,A SCOTTISH 12-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN, circa 1840, is estimated at £300-500

The devil here is in the details. Anyone care to take a shot at explaining the difference in estimation? I could guess, but some of you may know.
