Any idea what I should offer the guy for this? Not too fancy, but might make a nice shooter. I believe Alfred was the son of the more famous Hollis. Thanks!

The high bid is too much.

Yep! I told seller, but I now have other opinions to back that up. I can make and checker a new one, but that does not help the value much.

It's a clunker Rudy.

If it's functionally sound, fits you without too much modification (you'll probably find too much drop by a lot) and you can live with the fore-end as is or are willing to price your time in making a replacement fore-end at a low wage rate, the price isn't too bad. I paid a good deal more for a high condition 10 gauge Alfred Hollis hammer gun at a local dealer and thought I did o.k., but I was able to have it inspected with a return privilege.

A lot depends on the condition of the barrels & the bores. If the barrels are on face and the barrels & ribs are sound and the bore is clean without significant pits you could probably go to $500-$700 & be O.K.

Just My Opinion, George

I saw it as a, well, not exactly a clunker, but as a lower grade, modified gun right off. In all honesty, I was thinking of shortening it for cowboy action shooting (just love the 10 gauge for style points). Don't taze me, Bro! The 10 bore Webley I posted on earlier is one I am going to restore as a working gun to blow smoke out on Collins Marsh. I think I could go $400, but not much more. I could always get more than that back from another CAS shooter.
