Last Dollar;
Your post reminded me I had one stuck away. Got around to digging it out this afternoon and it is actually in much better shape than I recalled. I purchased the gun at the estate sale of a collector around 35yrs ago, and probably not shot it in the last 20. It always shot well for me, but it did seem to slap my cheek mone than I liked during a hot dove session (no such thing here anymore) and took the fun out of leisure blue rocks. My face is a little fuller now, so I must give it a go again.
Here is the gun: both barrels 28', one is IC/M and the second is M/F. Gun was produced in 1942, and the shell boxes are of that period.

Not sure of the weight, but it is not even in the same class as my bright gun.. The gentleman must have thought well of this gun, as out of approx. 150 guns at his sale, this is the only one he had taken the time to craft a wood case for, and he did have an eclectic collection running from low to high grade guns.
I will get my calipers out and get some frame dimensions and post later.

My old 20 gauge, #26,497, was Cylinder and Modified, the prewar choke combination for 26" guns. By the way, it was my first shotgun and I would buy it back if anyone knows where it is. When I sold it about 1960 or 1961, I think it may have gone to Texas but I'm not sure.

DR, do both sets of barrels have the same serial # as the frame?

Last Dollar,
The frame is 1.945" tall right at the barrel juncture. 1.990" wide with a taper starting right at barrel juncture on side to about 1.9 at stock.

Don,
barrels have no serial numbers. I suspect it a composed set, as the rollmarks on left barrel of each is slightly different. The M/F set has a 2 stamped on the left lug and sports a mid bead.

Recoil Rob,
The frame is hogged out pretty well in the center, leaving the side of the frame only about .08". Any sculpting would have to be right at the pin.

This is a precious set. Besides its extractor system which sometimes gives problems after extensive use this is remarkably well made and durable weapon. Until RGL made brief appearance this was the only mass-produced American "round action" piece.
