From the serial number it appears you are looking at a Remington Arms Co. Model 1889 made about 1891. While most commonly encountered Model 1889s are under $700 guns, a couple of years ago one of the big dealers had a pair of truely minty low grade Model 1889s in 12- and 16-gauges with asking prices in the $3000 and $4000 range!! Grade 1, 2, and 3 Model 1889s were plain guns with no engraving, the difference being the barrel material -- Grade 1 has Decarbonized Steel barrels, Grade 2 Twist barrels and Grade 3 Damascus barrels. Grades 4 to 7 had increasingly finer Damascus barrels, increasingly finer wood and checkering and more and finer engraving.
