Hi Michael
Yes I have fallen in love with the 44½ action there is no reasonable explanation for this, I was wondering is your .22 a 22LR? And is it on a 44 or 44½ action.
I had one in m y hands, CPA made up at Wyoming Armory in Cody and it was just such a well made action that I have to own an original, I have one from CPA on the way to me in 38-55 with a RKS gain twist barrel on, I hope it will reach me before Christmas.
Yes I am aware of the firing pin problem but as far as I understand it is only on the rim fire models the broken pins occur and the one I have plans to build is a CF .33-47.

I don't want to get in the way of love

. My experience is somewhat limited on the 44 1/2 Stevens to maybe three or four and ALL had a firing pin that was working but when removed it I found it broken. My Stevens 44 1/2 .22 has two barrels, one a Niedner false-barrel in .22 Short and another one in .22LR. Keep looking you will find what you want.
