I have an old LC Smith that belonged to my grandfather which has a short stock and more drop than is normal. I understand a lot of guns from this time were made this way. Someone told me I could get a slip on leather recoil pad and something that fits on the stock to take out some of the drop. Does anyone know where to buy these items.
Thanks for any help,
Glenn

I've got several of the older "Buddy Schoelkopf" slip over buttpads- for the comb- a lace on pad like we saw on the M-1D Garand and the 1903 in Sniper issue might work for you.
A friend has an older Smith double-he shot high-base pheasant loads in it, and the stock is split at the lockplates and tang-Got a price from Orvis gun shoppe to make a new stock-care to venture a guess- Knock holes in your American Express Card until who laid de rail-- Mama Mia!! Boxlocks for me-stronger!!

Mr. Fox ---- I have a client who is looking to buy such a beast. If this gun is mechanically sound and the friend wants to sell, contact me at 910-221-5288 or kenhurst @ suddenlink.net

RWTF,
Thanks for the info. Do you know where I can look for the lace on comb pad. I have found some leather butt pads.

Cabellas had them a few yrs ago. Got one on my '89 Remington hammer gun. They make the comb wider resulting in a little eye alignment problem but that can be dealt with by shifting the "saddle" a bit to the right if you're right-handed. Raising the right elbow in a pronounced fashion on the mount can also move the pocket inboard a bit and help with this.

Cary,
Thanks for the tip. That is what I need but I really want a leather one. I have seen them and they look a little better than that one.
Thanks for the help.
