A friend just ended up with his Grandfathers hammer gun, a Stevens steel barreled version in 12 gauge. Gun is in surprisingly good shape but it's missing the forend.

He thinks he's got one found but isn't sure of the model number and wants be sure before he makes the purchase. Anybody know the actual difference between the 235 and the 250 models of these guns?

Is it missing the wood forearm, or both the wood and the forearm iron?

The 235 was a box-frame hammer gun with an under-bolt and wedge-bolted rib extension on its mono-bloc barrels. The 250 was a sidelock hammer gun with a rotary bolted rib extension. The forearm irons look the same in the parts lists in the J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. catalogue No. 52.

He needs the whole deal, both iron and wood. Know where one might be located?

Thanks for the info, always nice to be able to ask and receive so quickly.
