Took out and patterned a 201E merkel DT 12ga that has had briley thin walls added by the previous owner, the lower barrel shoots 60/40 where aimed but the top barrel shoots 100% over the aim. I swithced the chokes I had in it at the time thinking it is a choke , the result is the same. Any suggestions on how that can be corrected?

I'd get in touch with Briley-if they installed the chokes, the serial number of your "Kraut-Kannon" would be in file. A variation in Wall Thickness, worn reamers, hones, could be an out-of-round barrel where threaded for the tubes, also tubes.
If previous owner used this with steel shot loads, or shot slugs, all sorta factors. Of course, you are in Colorado- might just have been one of the "Little Deutchendorff Kid's- aka- John Denver-" personal shotguns, hence the "Rocky Mountain High"..

Another gun ruined by those damned choke tubes! Unless they are factory installed, I wouldn't touch a gun fitted with them. They, ported or backbored barrels, are all inventions of the marketing departments. As Adolph the old German gunsmith at Abercrombies in Chicago used to say: "Aaaach! You tink you make a better gun than Remington or Vinchester!? Get out my shop because I von't help you to ruin a goot gun!" Buy spreader loads if you need less choke. Once you rebore a gun you can't put the metal back. Chopperlump

Thanks for the input gents, agreed that they should be left alone, Gun came from NJ has 2 IC, M, F briley thin walls, steel capable chokes. I have considered contacting Briley but I wanted to know if anything can be done to correct the issue before I do so....Kind of get educated first...

Whatever ails a gun can always be fixed. The real question must always be, "Is the gun worth the cost to fix it?" First, contact Briley's and ask the cost for their fix. Contact a couple of other good barrel smiths and get second opinions. Then, decide if you are willing to pay the price. Could be the gun was regulated this way from the factory. Could be the chokes.
