On a local auction list, I find a "Crescent Fine Arms 12 ga. double side hammers, 30 in. steel barrels, no pitting" listing. Can someone tell me what kind of double this is and its approx. value?
Thanks,
Ray

Early 20th century hardware store gun, cost about $10 when new. Worth from $50-$300 depending on condition.

My .410 Crescent has a cast steel frame. I believe it to be of the sandcasting process from looking at the casting surfaces on the insides. "Fine Arms..."???? Not to me. The 12ga guns I've seen were in the range Steve mentions. .410 guns from them have been listed at rediculous prices up to $2500, but as low as $650.

The 410 version can be one of most poorly finished guns around. Crescent seems to have been very good at producing guns for house brands. They would produce and stamp their guns for just about any hardware store that asked. The list is really very long.

They have little collector value. They are not one of the better made American shotguns. But they are a piece of americana.

Very honestly, you can get a better gun for the same money. But if you just must have one, go at it.

Pete
