No shooting experience, but I've inpected Demas guns at the IWA trade gun show in Nurmberg and they seem high quality. Also quite expensive. - Jani

Unless it's Darne/Paul Bruchet, or Manufrance you're not going to get any info regarding French piece. Most Americans don't like French guns. I asked couple questions regarding lovely Vouzelaud 315 BLE, but got nothing besides stupid remarks like: do you eat frog legs?, ribbit, not wee, wee, 'Kermit's gun',..... so don't feel left out, I feel your pain. It looks similar to nice mid-grade Italian gun to me, but I have not even hadled one.

Jaeger,
Not everyone is stooopid French gun hater. Non!!!
Just the beknighted, ignorant, provincial, blind, shriveled souls who must inflate their tiny selves by denigrating that of which they have no knowledge -- nor ability to appreciatte.
Heck, such negative puerile drivel happens all the time when the subject arises.
Hey, just kidding my Fracophobic friends...someone has to stand up for minority rights. As long as such good guns are trashed, the prices will stay low. Good job!!!
Relax; we're all experts here.

They are good guns and rifles for the price. They are the smaller rival for Chapuis on the French market. They have better quality control than Chapuis though and their design for their SxS double rifle is better with a stronger lock up. The designer used to work for Chapuis but quit and then designed the "Azur" double rifle for Demas. You can heavily customize your guns and rifles too with them.

Are Demas rifles and shotguns imported to the US? I wrote once but never received a reply.

Steven, not to my limited knowledge. It would not be a big deal to order one and then to have it imported by a FFL. I've done with Chapuis in the past, and I've thought long and hard about a Demas in the future. They have a new back action hammer gun thats just lovely!
On a side note they've been bought out by Verney-Carron, but VC seems to be letting Demas run their own designs (thankfully, after looking at that "modern" stuff that VC sells these days...).

Looks like mod.1040 to me. French distinguishes 3 types of gun making: machine, semi-handmade and complitely handmade. Paul Demas is from second legue. I'd not expect too much from this particular gun, but it looks nice.

Great thanks for all replys. When I contacted a importer, they told me that all Demas arms were sold from stock, even presentation guns. Only one doublerifle was left, but they order more guns for customers of course. O/U gun in picture is model 1030 with ejectors and four stars woods. Same model is offered too extractor version with three stars woods, slightly lower price. I will check that doublerifle and then will make decision, do I order a O/U Demas. Actually I don´t need that gun, but it is so lovely.

Verney Carron was the company I contacted, and they never got back to me. I've gone the form 6 route before for a Manurhin revolver - Chapuis Arms being another non-responisive company I had to go to Australia to get it.
