I agree, this is the 'Victoria' model. The 1891 W&C.Scott catalogue pictures this gun[Reference Figure 67].It states that the gun is engraved in the Oak leaf style and that it is fitted with Scott pattern circular hammers. This type of "low profile" hammer was at the time,in vogue for Pigeon guns.

the measurements given were at the muzzle, the internal diameters of the breech are

left (12-choke)-.806"
right (13)- .809"

so being three thousanths apart, even after over a hundred years of shooting....it would seem to me that they should have both been marked 12? or 13?

Greg they have been honed at some point in their life.

What all would that denote? decreased barrel strength?

You need to have the barrel wall thickness checked by someone that knows how to do it. It should be thick enough but without checking you won't know and risk a blow out.

Greg I might have misread your post. Do you mean those measurements of .809 and .806 are in the chamber or in the bore? If in the chamber they don't mean much. Measure the bore.

Mike, .809 and .806 are in the chamber; .700 and .727 are, I guess the bore. I always called it the muzzle. At any rate, its the end that you aren't supossed to look into

The .809 & .806 certainly sound like the chamber, though this will be a taper. If just ahed of the rim seat would be on small side, but if just behind forcing cone would be on large side. The .700 & .727 indeed sound like muzzle measurements & would seem to indicate the cyl & the choke difference.
Where the 12 & 13 come into play is between these two measurements. Measurements were made at that point in time by a simple plug gauge turned to a specific dia, in the sizes mentioned. The bbl was marked per the largest size plug which would enter the bore, from the breech, to a distance of 9". To compare present size with the "Proof Size" you need a measuring tool which can reach into the bore beyond the chamber & forcing cone.

I have two Scotts built on this frame. The older one has slightly higher hammers than the one that is a year older. The older one was made in 1885 and the younger one in 85.
