Right off the bat, I apoligies! But I didn't know where to post this> I need a winter project! I am looking for any type of single Shot Action, not to pickiny, R.R.B. any falling block, I am going to put a 45-70 barrel on it, so it has to be a big action. As far as I know they made 10's of 1000's of the Remington Rolling Block action in all kinds of counties for military use. I do have some trading stock and some cash, one of my trading stock is a Hornady 366 progessive 12 gauge loader.
Please get a hold of me if you have anything!
Thanks Greg

I hope all your shot's kit the BULLSEYE.

I have nothing like what you are looking for, have you considered a Springfield Trapdoor? There are many around that have been cut down with bad barrels and they can be made into a nice sporting rifle.

There have been a bunch of Swede Rolling Blocks landing in North America of late.
I think that the 8mm (8x58RD) Swede's are considered C&R or Antique in the US (may be wrong!) and are in pretty good shape on average.

Take a look at the Simpson Ltd site. IIRC they list them as "318" caliber. These were military guns that were too late in the scheme of things to see active service after an arsenal refit, were put into storage, then converted to Forester's rifles (Foresters were the Swedish equiv. to a Conservation officer, more or less), then they were sold out as surplus.

Good solid actions!

As much as I want an 1885, I can actually afford a Swede roller.

Cheers
Trev

Greg, I have a Swedish rolling block action. It was the equivalent of a .50-90 so it is big. Drop me a line off list at brentd@iastate.edu if you wish.

That is a really nice trapdoor. Another rifle I used to dislike but they can be beautiful rifles indeed.

Mike,
That's exactly what I want to build for a Trapdoor project! I don't care for military rifles, but want a Trapdoor in the collection that has a full octagon barrel, and sporting stocks!
Beautiful gun!
