In case anyone else is interested, the pressure for the Estate load mentioned above is 12,000 psi...
Still nothing on Eley load.

Randall, the figure you got for the Estates is the SAAMI-established limit for the 28ga. That's pretty much all you're going to get from any American ammo maker. Or at least the big ones. Their concern is to stay within the SAAMI limits. Generally speaking--other than loads like the Win Featherlites and the special run of low pressure shells Federal did for Midway--low pressure isn't a major concern for them. The Eley Grand Prix should fall within CIP standard pressure parameters, which are lower than SAAMI.

Thanks Larry. What I'm looking for is this:
28 ga, 3/4 oz, ~1200 fps, 10,000 psi or less
Maybe the better questions would be - is such a load possible, and if so, is it available anywhere commercially?
Obviously I'm not a reloader...

RST, makes a light 2-1/2" 28 gauge shell. I don't know the exact PSI, but if you call them, they will tell you. http://www.rstshells.com/shells-best.htm

I'm currently shooting both of the RST loads. The 3/4 oz load is 1100 fps & 7500 psi; the 5/8 oz load is 1200 fps & 8000 psi.
While I like them both, I think a 3/4 oz load @ 1200 fps w/ reasonable pressure would be the 'perfect' load for dove/quail/clays from older 28s.
I could well be wrong - but I'd like to see for myself, if such a load is out there somewhere...

My memory says that HS6 (WW540) just slips in under 10,000 psi in some reloads. I recommend you check the Hodgdon site for better information. bill

The Eley is CIP and at or below 7500 psi.

I don't think the Eley load is 7500 PSI, if it's pushing 1350 FPS.

I don't think the Eley load is 7500 PSI, if it's pushing 1350 FPS. I agree. I've tried to get a # from Eley, but they flat will not share it. If it was anywhere near 7500 psi, I think they'd be more than anxious to release the data...
