I thought I would share this great photo of a very successful Mallard shoot in the late 1800's/early 1900/s. I can't make out the make of the double hammer gun leaning on what I assume is a corn crib blind? Is that in fact a blind? Also, that appears to be a Golden Retriever he is hunting with. If this is an American photo it has to be one of the earliest photos of a Golden Retriever, since very few of them had been introduced to America before 1900. Enjoy, Gordon

Nice photo, but I don't think it's that old. This guy is wearing "Filson outfit" and photo is not in color to make it seem like it's really old. The boots appear to be rubber/leather thingys from outfit like LL Bean.

Very nice photo. The gun is hard to make out, it does have a straight stock though. The the far duck in his left hand is banded, and I believe the middle duck in left hand is banded also. The boots look like L.L. Beans, I know they made them for a long time.

The Maine Hunting Shoe was a 1912 development from what I have read.

I believe it is old, although I don't know it's exact age. It was in an old frame, with bubble glass and held in place with old rusty nails.

I'm pretty sure I see the top of an IPod in his coat pocket.

Look at that modern yuppie huntin' hat. Ole' pre-WWI American hunter would never wear anything like that!

Maybe it's a GPS that helped him get to the blind!

Probably a pack of smokes, my dad carried them in that pocket. Looks like 40's or 50's era to me, but I wasn't around then to be sure of that guess. Nice photo.

That hammer gun is intriguing. At first I was thinking Remington 1889, but the forend looks too long. Hmm..
I can also tell by the angle of the sun relative to the condition of the corn indexed to a parabolic formula of reverse stratification of the normal soil ph balance indeces of that time period that the photo was definitely taken...a long time ago. :0
