anyone know of any decent gun shops in the FT Leavenworth (Kansas)? area I am here for a week and owuld like to check some out

I wish you well on your deployment. I honor and appreciate your service.

You may find an interesting gun or two at the local pawnshops in Leavenworth. Unless you just want to get out and enjoy the countryside, Atchinson, Easton, Platte City, and Tonganoxie shops will have very limited inventories. Quite a few of the better gunshops in the greater K.C. area have gone by the wayside. Cabellas is about 20 min. away from the Fort, and probably has the largest inventory in the area. If you are looking for double guns, the Olathe Gun Shop will have a least a dozen or so behind the counter worth looking at. The old Simmons shop next door (don't remember what it is called now) may have a few.

I forgot to mention The Bullet Hole in Overland Park, nextdoor to Hodgdons Powder. Fair amount of inventory. The Bullet Hole has an indoor shooting range for a nominal fee, and I believe still has rentals available for use in the range.
