I like the older shotguns, especially the damascus hammer guns. Although this isn't a hammer gun, It is a real nice gun. They only made around 8500 Colt model 1883 shotguns. This gun has some nice original finish still evident on it, with good damascus pattern and even the original ivory beads on the barrel.

I am hoping to get it out tomorrow and shoot some 5 stand with it.

I also have a Colt 1878 hammergun, which I have killed quite a few birds with, this fall I hope to add to that with this 1883...

Neat old gun! Any sense of the dimensions and weight? It looks to have plenty of drop.

Those old 1883 Colts had rollers on the end of the mainsprings and when clean, cocked easier than any shotgun I'm aware of. Beautifully made guns; I see why they quit making them.

Gorgeous old thing. And with its original buttplate! Presume it's a 12-gauge? How long are the chambers? And what loads do you propose to shoot in it?

The barrels are a nice 4 Iron "Turkish" similar to that used on D grade Parkers
